Strip lashes or individuals on your wedding day? What should you wear?

There are many different ways of making your eyes ‘pop’ with makeup, but by far the most effective way is by adding lashes- I always recommend brides have some form of lash added on the day- not only because it looks FABULOUS in photos, but also because it really helps to enhance the rest of the makeup.

There are two main ways of adding lashes- in strip form or individuals- here are some benefits and drawbacks of both:

Strip lashes:

These are the more traditional of the two and are what you will usually find in the shops.

Pros

  • If you are looking for glam, these are for you! They will add real depth and volume to a look.

  • They photograph really well- makeup always looks more subtle in a photograph and therefore lashes do not look anywhere near as dramatic through a lens

  • There are lots of options available now- you can buy more subtle strip lashes if you prefer

  • They are easy to find- most large supermarkets and pharmacies will stock these

Cons

  • They can feel quite heavy (depending on how ‘full’ the lashes are) and therefore you will know you have them on

  • You will most likely need black eyeliner to mask the band of the strip lash and therefore you won’t be able to get a ‘natural makeup’ look

  • If too ‘full’, they can overpower the face and detract away from the rest of the makeup/ look

Individual lashes:

These are more commonly used by makeup artists and are usually purchased online through a lash stockist

Pros:

  • For those who want to avoid a glam look these are for you! You can keep your look natural and avoid the need for eyeliner, whilst also making your eyes pop

  • You can decide how many lashes you want to add- you could have just a few on the outside or a full set

  • These look particularly amazing on a mature face- strip lashes can age an older face whereas individual lashes can help to enhance their natural eyes

  • Your makeup artist can create a custom set to match your eye shape, making them completely personal to you

Cons

  • These are trickier to apply and do take longer- makeup artists are trained to add these type of lashes but it might be a little difficult for a novice at first

  • They are harder to find in shops- although not impossible!

Overall, if you are looking for glam, strip lashes will work well, but for those who would like a more natural look on their wedding day, I would always recommend individual lashes.
